Who We are
NWVTI Handicraft & Handloom Producer Private Limited was incorporated on 13 January 2021 under the Companies Act, 2013, with its registered office in Dimapur, Nagaland with the support of Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. The Company was established as a producer company to strengthen the livelihoods of artisans, weavers, and rural producers by providing them with a common platform for production, value addition, marketing, and enterprise development.
The Company was promoted by the Nagaland Women Vocational Training Institute (NWVTI), a registered charitable organization dedicated to women's empowerment, vocational education, skill development, rural entrepreneurship, and socio-economic development throughout Nagaland.
After years of working with women artisans and self-help groups, NWVTI recognized that while many beneficiaries possessed traditional skills, they faced significant challenges in accessing markets, obtaining fair prices, maintaining product quality, and competing in larger markets. To address these challenges, NWVTI established the Producer Company as a sustainable business platform owned and managed for the benefit of artisans of Nagaland .
Background :
Nagaland is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and traditional handloom and handicraft products. Every tribe possesses unique weaving patterns, bamboo and cane craftsmanship, wood carving, beadwork, embroidery, and other indigenous crafts that reflect the cultural identity of the State. However, many artisans continue to work in remote villages with limited access to organized markets, finance, modern product development, branding, and technology.
Recognizing these constraints, NWVTI initiated various livelihood programmes aimed at organizing artisans into groups, improving production techniques, enhancing product quality, and promoting entrepreneurship. As these initiatives expanded, it became necessary to establish a dedicated producer company that could undertake commercial activities while ensuring that the economic benefits reached the artisan community.
